What is Oolong tea?
Oooohhh Oolong…. The lesser known healthy, hydrating tea!
Oolong represents just 2% of the world’s tea, BUT should never be over looked. It is a semi-oxidised tea, half-way between green and black tea. The freshly plucked leaf is withered, then shaken in a tumbling machine to lightly bruise parts of the leaf, then oxidised for a short time so that the bruised parts of the leaf begin to oxidise. When 60-70% oxidation has been reached, the leaf is dried.

Similar to black and green teas, oolong tea contains several vitamins, minerals and helpful antioxidants.
A cup of brewed tea will contain approximately (3, 4):
Fluoride: 5–24% of the RDI.
Manganese: 26% of the RDI.
Potassium: 1% of the RDI.
Sodium: 1% of the RDI.
Magnesium: 1% of the RDI.
Niacin: 1% of the RDI.
Caffeine: 36 mg.
During this incredible weather we have been having here in the UK, the best thing you can drink is hot tea! Your grandparents may have taught you this, and you may have believed it was an old wives tale, BUT there is science behind this theory.
In short, warm drinks can increase your perspiration, helping to cool the body down!
To enjoy a prefect Oolong brew, simply follow these instructions: One teabag per cup, using water 80 - 100ºC. Leave to brew for 3-4 minutes. Enjoyed best without milk or sugar.
OR you can try our Oolong Iced Tea;
Brew 4/5 bags of oolong tea in a jug of hot water for 5 mins.
Remove the tea bags and add two tablespoons of Agar Sugar
Leave to cool
