Ethical Consumer lists Qi Teas as tied first place on its “Ethical shopping guide to Tea”. This is a huge accolade to us and we are extremely proud to remain ethical as a priority.
At the very heart of the word ethical lays a deep and meaningful “peace of mind” for the consumer. In this day and age we are constantly striving to be more conscious of what we put into our bodies and evermore aware of the effects our diets and nutrition have on our longevity.
Being an ethical producer of good quality, tasty teas is what Qi Teas are all about. We are extremely proud to buy our tea from a small co-operative of independent farmers who's families have, for years made their living out of harvesting the buds of the wonderful Camellia Sinensis plant.
As a company we are proud to support the ongoing success of the smaller tea picking communities in the industry. It is of utmost importance to us that all Qi Teas are prepared in the true spirit of partnership with local farmers and growers. To find out more about our Fair Trade teas >>
Fair Trade? Organic? Vegan?? These are all buzz words for 2017 and we suspect, 2018 as well. What do they all mean and more importantly, which ones are important to you, as the consumer?
Fair Trade - “A simple way to make a difference to the lives of the people who grow the things we love. We do this by changing the way trade works through better prices, decent working conditions and a fair deal for farmers and workers in developing countries”.
Organic - Food as it should be.
“In the face of climate change, rising diet-related ill-health and widespread declines in our wildlife, the need to produce healthy food, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and protect wildlife grows more acute by the year. There is no magic bullet to tackle the challenges that face us, but the buying decisions we make every day are a simple but powerful form of direct action”.
Vegan - “A philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.”
All important factors to be considered when consuming a product on a regular basis. Are there other factors to be considered? Our culture is becoming more health conscious as the years roll on, we are, as a nation growing more concerned with what we put into our bodies so it must make sense to buy ethical, organic and vegan tea?
One of our aims for 2018 is to become vegan certified across our range. Our teas are designed to aid a healthy lifestyle and to enhance your health and wellbeing with the aid of tea, herbs and spices whilst remaining ethically produced.
Plus… They taste delicious!! #QiTeaOclock
